We caught up with Hayley Quarmby from NewcastleGateshead Initiative to find out more about their organisation and exhibiting at the British Tourism & Travel Show.

Tell us a bit about your organisation:

NGI is a destination and inward investment agency that delivers for Newcastle, Gateshead and the wider region. NGI incorporates the brands of Invest Newcastle, Visit NewcastleGateshead and NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau. Every single one of our projects is dedicated to making a lasting social and economic impact. We promote the distinctiveness of our region, its culture, and its people to create an authentic voice that makes us stand out from the crowd. We work across key growth sectors and use insight and intelligence to drive innovation, inward investment and business growth. We attract world-class conferences that reinforce our sector strengths and the strategic importance of tourism. We play our part in delivering the region’s sustainable and inclusive ambitions, creating a world-class distinctive destination to enjoy, stay and invest in.

Tell us what your visitors can see on your stand:

Newcastle and Gateshead together form one of North East England’s most dynamic urban tourism hubs, offering a compelling mix of culture, history, world-class attractions, gastronomy, and events — ideal for tour operators, group travel organisers and travel agents looking to deliver memorable client experiences. Newcastle’s cosmopolitan city centre is known for its award-winning food and drink scene, independent shops and lively nightlife complemented by heritage landmarks such as Newcastle Castle and immersive museums like the Discovery Museum.

Across the river in Gateshead, the regenerated Quayside has become a focal point for contemporary culture. Visitors can explore innovative art at the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, enjoy world-class music and performances at The Glasshouse International Centre for Music and marvel at the Gateshead Millennium Bridge. The area also features standout public art such as the Angel of the North.

Together, these two cities deliver a powerful mix of urban excitement, cultural depth and client appeal, making them a must-include destination in broader North East England itineraries.

Why is exhibiting at the British Tourism & Travel Show an unmissable opportunity for you?

BTTS is an opportunity to raise the profile of Newcastle and Gateshead as well as the wider North East region to group travel organisers and tour operators and increase the awareness of this lesser-known destination.
